Life ILS Conference 2025 Announces Professor Richard Faragher as Keynote Speaker

[LONDON, 26th March 2025] – Life Risk News is delighted to announce that Professor Richard Faragher will deliver the Keynote Presentation at the Life ILS Conference 2025.

Richard Faragher is Professor of Biological Gerontology at the University of Brighton and is past Chair of the British Society for Research on Ageing, the International Association of Biomedical Gerontology and the American Aging Association. He read Biochemistry at Imperial College, London and undertook doctoral studies at Sussex. He researches cellular senescence and mammalian ageing and has discovered simple compounds which reverse this process opening up new therapeutic avenues for conditions previously considered untreatable.

He holds the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Conference Science Medal, the Paul F Glenn Award for research into the mechanisms of ageing and the British Society for Research on Ageing’s highest honour, the Lord Cohen of Birkenhead Medal. He was the first scientist to receive Help the Aged’s ‘Living Legend’ award for championship of older people and the use of research for their benefit.

He serves on the Board of Directors of the American Federation for Aging Research (the US Charity supporting research into fundamental mechanisms of ageing) and leads their work on international collaboration and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of two venture capital organisations (Longevity Vision Holdings and the Bold Longevity Fund) as well as the company LinkGevity. He is a member of the Legal & General Longevity Sciences Panel which advises L&G on life expectancy in the UK.

Professor Faragher’s presentation, Tackling Ageing, will look at the potential for significant longevity extension due to a black swan event/scenario, such as a breakthrough in tackling the fundamentals of ageing.

“We are delighted to welcome Professor Faragher as the keynote speaker at the Life ILS Conference 2025,” said Chris Wells, Executive Director at ELSA and Managing Editor at Life Risk News.

“The potential for a black swan event in human longevity would have a profound impact on the longevity and mortality markets and I’m sure that Professor Faragher’s presentation will provide actionable insights for all conference attendees.”

This year’s Life ILS Conference will be the sixth edition, and, similar to recent years, will feature a combination of panel sessions and presentations that address the challenges and opportunities facing the life insurance-linked alternative credit, longevity and mortality risk transfer and secondary life markets.
