The Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA) and the the European Life Settlement Association (ELSA) jointly filed an amicus brief earlier this month before the Supreme Court of Delaware regarding a case involving the Estate of Beverly E. Berland vs. Lavastone Capital LLC.

The ELSA Executive Committee and the LISA Board of Directors took the decision to file the brief due to the fact that the case potentially impacts the continued vitality of the life settlement industry. The brief argued that the life settlements enhance consumer welfare and that the state of Delaware has actively sought to cultivate a robust life settlement market.
